H.E. Dr. Sulley Gariba and the visiting Cabinet Secretary of Ghana, Mr. Roger Angsomwine, visit the Ghana Sickkids project team in Toronto
One of the unique contributions of the Ghanaian diaspora in Canada is the initiation of the Sickkids-Ghana Paediatric Nursing Education Partnership (PNEP), launched in January 2015, valued at $ 15 million and funded, in part, by Global Affairs, Canada. One of the charismatic leaders behind this partnership is Dr. Isaac Odame, a Ghanaian-Canadian Paediatric specialist. During the visit, H.E. Dr. Gariba commended the incredible work of Ghanaian professionals living in Canada for inspiring such a visionary project that is saving lives of thousands of Ghanaian children. The visiting Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Angsomwine, on his part, commended the Toronto Sickkids Hospital and the many Canadian volunteers for this pioneering initiative. He indicated that this project is most consistent with His Excellency, President Mahama’s commitment to the establishment of CHIPS compounds, designed to bring improved health services to millions of rural dwellers in Ghana’s remote areas.
